PS3 Compatibility
The PlayStation 3 IntensaFIRE is compatible with most of the
current PlayStation Dual Shock 3 Controller Models:
Model CECHZC2U/98050/production numbers 3-295-244-02, 3-295-245-03, or 3-295-245-04 (production numbers are found on outer packaging)
You can be sure that your Dual Shock 3 controller is compatible if the motherboard has points TP17, TP18, and TP20 laid out as shown in the image below.
COMPATIBLE:
The PlayStation 3 IntensaFIRE is NOT COMPATIBLE with the old-style SixAxis non-Dual Shock Controllers.
There are certain PS3 Dual Shock 3 Controllers which are also NOT COMPATIBLE with the IntensaFIRE. Some of these also have the model number 'CECHZC2U', but they appear to have a few traits which set them apart.
First, the incompatible controllers will have a board which looks like this:
NOT COMPATIBLE:
Second, the incompatible controllers will have a four piece shell, rather than two piece. The extra pieces are small detachable sections between the R1 and R2, and L1 and L2 trigger buttons, as pictured below:
